There is so much right with my life, sometimes I wonder what I could possibly have to complain about. I'm young, in the process of achieving a degree, in a country that strives (in principle) for that little thing we call democracy. And yet. God, and yet. I'm selfish, I'm aware of it. But it still doesn't hide the facts, doesn't shield the truth.

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

Another academic year begins! Happenings thus far:

Am seriously unimpressed with one of my politics modules, wasn't my first choice, not a clue why I picked it for my second now.

My timetable is horrifically free, am torn between glee and terror at the lack of time I'm at uni for my final year.

Desperate for a job. I will be polishing up my cv and preparing to go around town with a cheesy grin this week.

My new phone arrives tomorrow. One of the many wonderful things about being on contract. :D

Actually bothered to go to the sports and societies fair this year- not impressed. Shouldn't have bothered.

I keep staking out TK MAXX, hoping to bump into pickpocket ladies (MUCH LOVE, by the way to you guys, thank you for sharing my capslocky rage :3) and met out some srs!justice.

Am picking up my annual ennui earlier than usual. With any luck, it'll be over earlier too. Clearly all this means is that I should go shopping more often. ILU, student loans.

Um. idk. ILU guys? Any of you beautiful people up north, give me a bell or something. ugh, I will post again when I don't feel like utter blah, I swear. ♥

PEOPLE, THERE ARE SOME SKANKY HO-BAG BITCH PICKPOCKETS IN NEWCASTLE AT THE MOMENT- I NEARLY GOT MY PURSE NABBED IN TK-MAXX. FUCKING WHORES HAD MY BAG OPEN AND THEIR DIRTY SKANK-BITCH HANDS IN MY BAG BEFORE I NOTICED AND STARTED OFF ON THEM IN CHINESE.

In retrospect, I would have made more of a scene if I'd done it in English but I was so shocked/angry, I actually completely forgot my English and started off on them in Chinese. I have a picture of the cheap tarty slut walking away but not one of her face. I'm seriously tempted to ask for my cctv footage in the store to press charges with the police because I may have noticed her before she nabbed anything but there's no guarantee that others would be as lucky.

Ugh. I HOPE THEY DIE IN A PISSING FIRE. OR SOME PAINFUL PISSING DISEASE WHERE THEY DIE FROM THEIR OWN PISS. WHAT DICKFACED JERKY FLOOZIES. DIAF.

look at the stars, look how they shine for you

Another year.

In this year, I have sobered up about university. I have refocused my career paths and discovered my unequivocal joy in politics. I grew a little wiser, I clung a little faster to childhood. I learned what it truly meant to be close to another person. I discovered what it felt like to have a heart beat in time with mine. I lost a little faith in love. I grew ever closer to friends. I walk with my head higher than ever before. I found meaning in songs. I found the taste of freedom, of rhythm in vodka. I smiled at people, and discovered they smile back. I know when to hold fast. And when to let go.

It's my birthday in two days. The majority of my friends are scattered far and wide this year. Homefriends are mostly on holiday and working. Unifriends are on holiday, working or are sweetly wrapped up in each other and a bitter reminder of what I stupidly let slip away from me. I am, though, going to Portsmouth a few days later which aim to be filled with drink, fun and laughter.

Canada was wonderful. I don't know how much to describe it, only that it feels like home but not. My dad's family are there, and they spoil me something rotten. I'm both babied and treated like an adult. The shopping opportunities there are endless. The food is delicious. The attractions wonderful. The weather wonderful.

After Canada, inkblot_fiend and I went to stay with kat_lair for a few days and it was fun and fandom-y and cute and fic-plotty. I adore them, fact.

It's been a roller-coaster of a year. I can't wait to see what next year brings.

Bring it, world.

... It would appear someone has managed to get into my Twitter account, posted a bit of spam/advertising with horrific spelling and grammar (I fully realise my grammar isn't up to scratch, but bitch, please) and it was as quickly snapped up by Twitter and flagged as a TOS violation.

I have been suspended on the internets!!! :O

Damn you. I will contest this.

On plus side, bought a pretty dress from Topshop. Alas, it is not the wonderfully red and flirty, 50s inspired party dress that would look perfect with black heels. It is though, a sweet holiday/everyday/nice day out sort of dress that will look rockin' with a pair of white canvas shoes. Yay shopping!

that's what you get for waking up in vegas

After a spate of days in which I've felt very little, done less and thought none, it's refreshing to have a nice day. Because that's what today has been, just very, very nice. :) I mean that in a totally none-patronising way too.

I painted my nails a horrifically tacky coral-pink-red that I'm totally diggin', especially since I've managed to get the bits I painted onto my skin off. I had my hair trimmed to get the nasty looking ratty ends gone, and I'm planning on re-dyeing it brighter this Saturday. Bought a nice pair of distressed, eighties acid-washed (is that what you call it?) jeans from River Island on sale and I'm massively looking forward to going on holiday soon. The sun is shining, the skies are MIRACULOUSLY blue and the clouds are white and adorkable. All is right with the world. :)

YEAH, I have so totally got an outline for my bigbanghood fic. Originally I had gone for a post series three fic, centring around the return journey of Will and Djaq to England and the impact of Archer's leadership (or maybe Much's leadership, who knows) on the gang, blah blah. But then the most astounding thing hit me- Robin Hood. IN SPACE. IN FREAKING SPACE. For a few weeks, nothing worked. Tonight, I've got the basic skeleton of a scene written out that I'm loving.

Here's a piece that will never make it. It's cut, kaput and most importantly, utterly shit. But I'm posting it anyway, because I'm contrary. I hate it, but I'm showing you it anyway. :)

*

The Sherwood was a beautiful ship, all sleek curves and shiny lines. It was quick in a battle and a damn smooth ride (when handled with the appropriate finesse naturally). It also tended to list a few micro-degrees to the left when set on automatic (a serious matter when you consider it'll take you at least a few thousand kilometres off your desired destination) and the doors had a disturbing tendency to malfunction at the most inappropriate times, but the Sherwood - that beautiful Type-Four-Five ship it was - had taken them through thick and bloody thin.

*

(Yeah, it's bollocks. For a start, the Sherwood in no way will be shiny and new and clean and up-to-date. No fucking way.)

I spent the entirety of yesterday thinking it was Sunday. Today, I've been under the assumption it's a Monday. My mind is cracking, slowly but surely. I'll be in London 28th-30th folks, a little heads up. Anything utterly pressing, you guys drop me a comment. I'll play catch up with posts when I'm back.

that's not my name, that's not my name.

Results are back in; I've managed to pass second year with a mild 2:1! Managed to pull my highest grade (74) into my overall to balance out my lowest at 55, meaning I averaged out at 62.5%, which is great but somehow I thought I would do better. Bleh, I had higher expectations due to the fact I revised so fucking hard and everything, but when it comes down to it, the facts are these:
* I am much, much better at essays and seminar logs than I am in exams. I can revise twice, three times as hard for an exam than I do for an essay but the exam-type pressure gets to me in the end.
* I have not got myself a proper revision technique that works yet.
* I still started revision too late into the year. Next year will change that, honest to God.

I've yet to watch the final episode of Torchwood. What I have seen so far makes me wish so hard that Torchwood had been like this from the start; fast, nail-biting, cruel, harsh, sharp, witty, wonderful. I did make one horrifying discovery though. PC Andy looks almost exactly like S. Thanks, universe.

RE Robin Hood cancellation: Eh, over it. Someone make it possible to pitch Primeval to the Beeb. That'll do me over nicely.

Watched an episode and a half of Personal Affairs. It's fucking awesome.

Clothes! There are sales going on in many of the high street shops at the moment, and I've come away with a beautiful pink skirt, a white t-shirt with a glitzy owl on the front, a khaki coloured t-shirt of the same cut and the most beautifullest cream/white sheer silk shirt thing I found in H&M (that wasn't on sale but I couldn't walk away). Also, I want a sunhat. A big white one that flops over and is very 40's and chic.

Uhm, what? Clearly the summer is getting to me and I need to have a break. A big one. With drinks, dancing, pretty boys and summer sunning.

It was certainly interesting. This episode was what most of the whole series has been- mostly mediocre but with good wibble-worthy moments. Much has been an absolute star. He took command so easily and with determination with the archers and has just been wonderful. Kate still does nothing for me. On the same note though, she doesn't do anything to make me hate her either.

There were huge great gaping plot holes (uh, Guy, giving your devious, crazy and conniving sister a WHOLE BOTTLE OF POISON nay be the dumbest thing you've ever done) and a bit of a cheesy death scene (it was fine until we got the shot where they shot Robin's outstreatched arm suddenly going 'blergh'- seriously, they could just have shown him already peacefully at rest against the tree and I'm sure their intended demographic would have got it) and the lily is the most pansiest flower they could have given the poor fellow to hold.

Will miss the sheriff greatly. ;; Loved that the three related brothers had that moment just before Guy's death. V. sweet.

Have signed up for three months at the gym in an attempt to stave off boredom. I will run/combat/jacuzzi myself out of nothing to do and into fitness territory! \o/

GOOD CHRIST my Tom Tom <s>shit</s>satnav took me on a fucking wild goose chase today. What (I now realise) should have been a simple M6-A590 route took me an extra hour and a half on some insane route on the A66 and led me on a merry dance all the way through the middle of the Lakes and oh by the way here; have a mini accident and shit your car up while we're here. Well, it's not shitted up... it's just dented and looks ugly. There's two roughly football shaped dents on the front corner of my car as well as a few nasty scratches. But all's well, I'm home and the car is still perfectly drivable.

Ugh, ugh. Apart from that though, I'm alright. I'm good! Watched Star Trek again yesterday (♥) at the cinemas, ugh that film is uberlove. Have realised I left a few vital things important to a girl in Newcastle (my keys! The razor!! High heels!!) and means I shall have to buy more. Yay?

That in turn became a hunt for a new layout and, well, here I am. :3

Check me out!

In other news, in cheering kat_lair up, I seem to have inadvertently created some sort of space!adventurers world. A detailed, sprawling, part-criminal-part-hightech-all-awesome space!verse where the boys are pretty and slutty and the girls are unbelievably badass.

Ahahaha, what?

i can't remember but it's alright i'm alright

I'm ill. The sneeze, shake, shiver and forget what day it is sort of ill. Actually, it's probably just a cold and I'm making a fuss and I'll be fine. But I'm still ill. No like. On the plus side, at least it happened after my exams.

I've spent all day going through my clothes (ending up with two bags full of donate-clothes because I'll never wear them) and ironed everything. I'm attacking the room tomorrow with a vengeance.

My muscles are sore- I did Mel B's workout DVD yesterday and I plan on doing it tomorrow.

I got 79% for a project plan, putting my average for one of my modules at 74% but it's hard to feel pleased about it because it's such a shit module that no-one cares about it and it has nothing to do with History or Politics whatsoever. Regardless, a first is still a first. Plus it'll help with any potential bad grades I'll get in July that need pulling up to maintain a good overall average for next year.

I... I've forgotten what I wanted to write here. I think I need some sleep.

So, I actually watched a Robin Hood episode all the way through without the urge to skip on iplayer, the first time in a long while.

So Guy and Meg. I really liked it. It made me tear. ;;

You know, I remember once when I had the time and the willingness to write long episode reactions and reviews. I think revision may be sucking all the life out of me.

and it's been three whole weeks since i've heard you speak

Had Italian Fascism exam yesterday- that was hell and a half in two hours. On reading the exam paper, I realised I should have revised the Church, the Vatican and the Lateran Pact (much simpler to answer) and did the question on the Manifesto of Fascist Racism when I should probably have done the foreign policy one in regards to Italy's relationships with German, France and Britain. But I only realised this halfway through the answer so I carried on.

Bawww.

Never mind. I did what I generally tend to do when I panic; I did a brain-information-spew. "I know this! And this! Look at this date I recall! Look at my acronyms! Here, have a quote!!" ;;

And now I'm completely knackered and horrifically tired. I need to revise for a Democratic Politics exam that's on next Wednesday, so I'm frantically trying to look up information on different countries in Europe.

Bawww!

So I'm back in the library again, sulking and thinking too much (boy, get out, you've fucked me around enough, don't you think?).

In sunnier, brighter news, I ended up buying another pair of heels and have my sights pinned on buying a very sweet top on a site.

i try to forgive but it's not not enough to make all okay

The Good:

Well, hello shoes. I do believe I bought you. Why so pretty? Though I do wish you came in red. I could have been mildly slutty as well. Still, cannot have everything. And for that price, I'm willing to forgive.

Repainted my nails. Now instead of flaky, chipped and thinly covered, my nails are red, bold and shiny shiny new. Yay!

Handed in all essays, but still revising for exams. GOGOGOGO.

The Bad:

I has ulcer(s).

I cannot do 'proper' revision. Someone has stolen all the good books- which means I'll have to make a trip to the Key Text collection, and the sub-basement to find journals. Duuusty.

The Needy:

I want a relationship again.

it's been far too long since you went away

I'm feeling slightly less melancholy.

Reason: Because I wore this today. I looked good.

Have a meme, as yoinked from inkblot_fiend and tardisdoll

Lets start it off with, are you available?
Yes.

How far away is the person you miss?
About two miles away? Fucker.

If you were to die today would your life be complete?
No! I have so much to do. :)

Do you know anyone with the same middle name as you?
Nay, for I have no middle name, for my middle name is not there.

Were you happy when you woke up today?
Not too bad. The day was sunny, which I always love.

How long does it take for you to take a shower?
Anywhere from 15-40mins when I feel like wasting water and I deem the luxury necessary.

Is there a secret you've never told your parents?
I suppose. We don't have the sort of relationship where we can feel comfortable telling each other things.

Are there framed pictures from your parents' wedding in your house?
Yes! My dad has scarily curly hair and my mum is so retro-80s, it's cool again. Like, her wedding dress is all... ruffles and taffeta and lace, and her make-up is strong. I love it.

Has anyone told you that they would always be there for you?
Yes.

Do you remember who you liked in 4th grade?
Oooh yes. He was funny and cute and the new boy in the school. Everyone liked him, and a friend and I were the only girls on the same table as him and he was very charming (as charming as a little boy in year 4 can be, I mean).

When was the last time you went to the mall?
A few hours ago.

Are you a fast typer?
My leet skills have diminished over the last few years.

What are you currently hearing?
Primeval, series two episode 5 (the one with the spunky kid in the desert).

What's on your bed right now?
Cushions, Hello Kitty, Flat Cat, Sir Mortimer, Mr Happy and a box at the foot of the bed that I use to store my crap that doesn't fit anywhere else.

Is there someone who you can spend every minute with and be happy?
There was.

Are you easily scared by horror movies?
THE PRECISE REASON WHY I DON'T WATCH THEM. :0

Have you ever been given roses?
Nay.

Would you ever date someone who was gorgeous but they had a conceited attitude?
I'm not sure. A good half of the guys I fancy tend to fall into this category, so... yes?

Do you want to have kids?
I love kids. They're inquisitive, bright-eyed, sweet and smell wonderful. But right now? Hell naw.

Have you ever watched a movie you hated but someone else loved?
GOD YEAH. Waste of an Orange Wednesday, as far as I'm concerned.

Who is your last text from and what does it say?
Boy from my Italian Fascism class: "I was thinking 3 too- js make sure we revise them thoroughly it we'll b fine- hav u picked which ones ur doing yet? U goin 2 lecture 2moz? J"

Latest you stayed up in the past week?
2AM? I've been forcing myself to get up for 9AM in library all week to do work, so I odn't stay up that long.

Are you currently wanting any piercings or tattoo?
No, I'm first a wuss and second worried about regrets.

Who last called you babe/baby?
Maybe either Romana or Emma. They're my lovely babes too. :)

Macy's gift card or Hollister gift card?
Right now, Hollister. Does this make me a rah?

At what age do you want to be married?
Not concerned. As far as I'm aware, if I'm not attached by the time I'm thirty five, my elders well probably throw me in the path of a similar aged, Chinese professional or something. Who knows how their minds work?

Do you know anyone who is pregnant?
Cousin Josephine in Canada-land. Yay baby!

Who is the one you trust most?
Family, friends.

Have you ever kissed anyone with a lip ring?
No.

Have you ever kissed someone whose name starts with a C?
... maybe? *shrugs*

What are you excited about this weekend?
REVISION. I... I have no idea. But seriously, I'll be starting on revision early for once. I feel sort of accomplished.

What were you doing at 8am this morning?
Snoring, probably.

Are you a jealous person?
Yes. I think.

Do you get along with girls?
Yus! Mostly.

If someone liked you would you want them to tell you?
Oh god yes.

Are you too forgiving?
I think so.

Are you happy with life?
Life is a roller coaster.

What are you craving right now?
moar sushi.

Can you cook?
I can't follow a recipe to save my life but I'm not bad in the kitchen. My experiments turn out alright, and I do really love my cooking time.

Have you ever not been able to get someone off of your mind?
Most surely.

Would you ever get a tattoo?
Probably not.

Do you think you will be in a relationship 3 months from now?
Ahahaha! Don't I wish.

Would you go in public looking like you do right now?
No. I have a towel wrapped around my head, I'm in my sleepy stuff and I've got a dressing gown wrapped around me. Just... no.

Do you like to cuddle?
I love to cuddle.

What do you wear to sleep?
Depends on what's clean. Matching PJ set/oversized t-shirt/pj top and leggings. When it's really cold, I opt for jogging pants and a long sleeve.

Would it be hard seeing someone else kiss the last person you kissed?
I was drunk, he was a chavvy tart, I'm sure I wouldn't weep about it.

Kissed anyone with the name starting with an A, T, D, R, S, G, B or M?
Yeah.

Have you ever thought about getting your lip pierced?
No.

Do you start the water before you get in the shower or when you get in?
Before. I could get scalded or freeze if the temps wrong!

Where did you get the shirt you're wearing?
Primarni~ classy. ♥

i like to wait to see how things turn out

My, such a studious little creature I am.

You guys, this is the fourth day in a row I have come to the library to study. Admittedly today isn't even a 'half-day' for me- I'm only here for another two and a half hours and yesterday I'd actually slogged away from nine till five (well, with a few breaks here and there) on my work.

At this rate, I'll actually have over a week in advance in which I can do some revision- proper revision as opposed to my usual half-arsed reading and desperate cramming.

WOAH.

I sorta know why I'm like this a little, and it's not for the right sort of reasons, but perhaps that's still a good thing. I'm getting work done, at any rate.

The only way is up, guys. The only way is up. :)

Eep!

How grossly offended am I? Just browsing through thestudentrooms forums, and what do I espy but a thread that balances going to a highly prestigious university against going to an ex-poly/below #30 university and factoring in being happy or not.

Quite a few people are happy to sacrifice a modicum of happiness for the sake of going to a highly ranked university. Fair do.

But a few started mocking my university as one of their examples. :O Well.

Shove off please. I adore my university, despite my initial reserves about it. I love it that much I'm all for staying a few extra years.

You know you're on a roll when a previously shitty mess of ~1500 bollocks now has ~500 words of viable essay material. Yay!

The essay question in mind?

"Discuss Flinders’ contention that “ … although significant, the actual degree of (post-1997 constitutional reform) in Britain is less radical than is commonly assumed: although New Labour is committed to far-reaching constitutional reform in principle it has been far less committed in practice.” (M Flinders (2005) Majoritarian Democracy in Britain: New Labour and the Constitution, in West European Politics, Volume 28, Number 1 (January 2005)"

be just as kind as you can be

Babes, I'm in a ridic. mood for an early start as this. I'm in an awesome mood, and that hasn't happened in a while. Points, let me list them for you.

It's 9AM and I am in a university library voluntarily. Granted, this is on the assumption I am going to do essay work for the rest of the day, but given I'm not even in uni today... woah dudes.

I have a chocolate-flavoured cappuccino with me to keep me company. Boy S may have broke my heart, but he had fucking good taste in food and drink, man.

I stayed for a 5PM Governance lecture yesterday and I'm so glad I did. We spent the hour going through the expected outcome of the Budget brought through ~two weeks ago and whilst the fiscal damage we're going to go through as a generation is daunting and shit-making worthy, it was bloody fascinating.

I plan on making a trip to Durham during the college half term with some of my cousins- that is, providing I'm not up to my ears in revision and stuff. But I've always wanted to go, and I have a car so...

The sun is shining. I love it when the sun is shining. I love good weather.

i felt driven and i felt obliged

Essays! Assignments! Exams! Revision!

O hai bbs. I'll be around or not for a while. I did fuck all revision and essays all through Easter, and now I'm looking at ~3500-4000 words needing to be done for two weeks time (easy, but I want to do these properly) and revision for exams roughly a week or so after that.

Boo, whatever. I am back in the Toon, having driven my baby all the way from home and with kick-arse GOLDENBROWNISH HAIR THAT I LOVE HELLO I DYED MY HAIR. :DDD I plan on spending the rest of the day here in the library, for I have already got a sort-of essay plan smushed out for Governance. Having said that, I think I may have been better off doing the question on devolution. Constituional reforms are interesting to write about, but the question is as confusing as a bitch. D:

Have yet to watch PMQ. And considering it's the one post-Budget, I really need to see that one.

Brief thoughts on fandom as they stand:

Primeval is great, I'm well shocked at what has happened, I wangsted about it for a while but decided I love it and there is much to be said when I like this more than I like Robin Hood at the moment. More to follow when I have time.

Robin Hood- I have yet to even watch Saturday's episode. This says much.
